After Changing the Blade or Cut Strip, go back to the starting settings and perform the self-cut test. The self-cut test can be done while in the condition settings by pressing the left arrow button then enter. Make small adjustment to the blade depth OR the force to get a successful self-test cut. (cuts material only and does not cut through the backing sheet). NEVER MAKE BLADE DEPTH AND FORCE ADJUSTMENTS AT THE SAME TIME.
Once a self-cut test is performed successfully press enter again to return to the home screen. Now do test plots using the DAP test cut patterns. (T9999U for tint, P9997 for PPF), plan on doing a minimum of 10 test plots to season the blade, if tests plots are with in spec, then plot an auto pattern to ensure desired operation. If test plots are not consistent, make small adjustments to finish tunning and finally do an auto pattern to verify cut quality. (Expect to use approximately10 feet of tint for initial plotter tuning)
TROUBLESHOOTING:
ISSUE | SOLUTION |
Film tracking/Walking |
Check pinch roller settings, make sure outer rollers are locked down, check for telescoping of the material on the roll, check grit and pinch rollers for debris, small pieces of material stuck on the rollers. |
Poor Cut Quality |
Check blade depth and use the loop to check blade for dulling or damaged tip. Check force settings with the above chart Check cut mat for grooves. After replacing the blade or the cut mat, always start the tuning process again with the starting parameters listed above |
Inconsistent Cut |
Check cut mat for damage, grooves, or incorrect placement (high spots). Check Pen Block for play. Check "Y" belt tension and tracking. |
Max Settings | If max settings are needed, blade, cut mat or blade holder may need replacing. |
Blade Holder | Manufacturer recommends replacing annually ( # PHP33-CB09N-HS) |
More force needed | If you need to add force to achieve good cut quality, it is time to replace the blade. Replace and start with settings listed above. |
